Kerry Hotel Hong Kong
The Kerry Hotel is in a bit of an odd spot but it makes up for it in comfortable cool and commanding views.
I love Hong Kong’s Kowloon side, but the new Kerry Hotel is a bit removed from the heart of the area. It’s by no means inconvenient, but you’re not exactly going to stumble out of the lobby into Ned Kelly’s Last Stand. That distance perhaps gave the developers a little more room to work with. The hotel is quite large yet never feels corporate. The warm, minimalist design makes the most of its waterfront space with multi-story windows off the lobby lounge area and several decks and promenades, all offering lovely views of Hong Kong Island across the bay. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, neither annoyingly hip or overly stuffy. Dining options are abundant. There’s, of course, a large buffet restaurant, ideal for breakfast. But there’s also an Italian restaurant and a big food hall with live music called the Dockyard, among other options. But the big draw might be Red Sugar, the hotel’s rooftop cocktail lounge, which like pretty much everywhere at the Kerry, includes an expansive deck, perfect for enjoying an expertly mixed cocktail and some light Asian fare.
