Seoul

Unfortunately I had to leave my parents early because of business obligations. They’re off to finish their Southeast Asian adventure in Hoi An and Hanoi, and I find myself in Seoul.

I’ve been to Seoul a few times and have come to love it. Nestled between the coast and the mountains, the setting is beautiful. There are wonderful cultural landmarks to explore like the Gyeongbokgung Palace complex pictured here. The food is basically designed for me. Amazing barbecue. Fried chicken. Bibimbap and noodles. It’s wonderfully modern, too; the whole place is basically wireless. And its airport has one of the most handy features I’ve ever encountered: The International Taxi. I’m sure the premium you pay is exorbitant but the comfort it affords when you arrive late and just want to get to your hotel and go to sleep is well worth it. Every airport should have an international taxi stand.
