Bohol

After a brief detour on Mactan Island in Cebu, I find myself in Bohol.

The ferry over to Panglao Island was effortless and the taxi to the Amorita Resort equally so. I picked a good spot. The hotel is a short flight of stairs down to Alona Beach, where I spent the afternoon wandering along the beachfront, periodically stopping to watch throngs of island hoppers disembark from their little skiffs. This is island life. Breezy dive bars. Kitschy souvenir shops. Wafts of smoke from outdoor barbecues. Pretty sure I’m going to like this place.
